If criticism of the 1033 program rises again, LE agencies need to be ready to educate their communities about why cops need military surplus equipment

A recent report in Newsweek showed that law enforcement agencies have acquired six billion dollars of military surplus equipment over the past 18 years. The article, titled “Militarization of Police,” points out the majority of products fall in the “uncontrolled” category.
