Dallas neighborhoods like mine need far more help than ‘See Something — Say Something’ | Commentary

I  live in a South Dallas-Fair Park neighborhood, and communities like ours need more than a “See Something — Say Something” campaign. Chronic gun violence is beyond the scope of a neighborhood crime watch. Although citizen action can help, it should not be the primary response.

Decades of mediocre rental property management, combined with mediocre economic development, have produced an abundance of low-wage jobs and exacerbated the birth of underground markets and ways of life that have a negative, life-threatening impact on our community.
